Privacy & contact

Updated 8 October 2026.

Your email, for the brief

Email delivery is currently paused. The invitation form saves your email, free-brief or pack-update preference, optional feedback and permission to send a confirmation invitation when delivery resumes. A saved request is not a confirmed subscription. Its receipt includes a private withdrawal link; using it removes the request’s email and feedback.

We store the email you submit, your chosen list, confirmation time and subscription status. You join only after confirming by email. The pack-update list is free and does not authorize any charge.

We use Cofounder, its email providers, Supabase and Vercel to operate this service. Email addresses are not sold. We retain subscription records while you are subscribed and a suppression record after you leave, so we can respect your preference.

Abuse prevention

Invitation requests include a hashed network identifier and timestamp for rate limiting. An hourly cleanup removes requests older than 90 days. Processing a new invitation request also removes expired records. Withdrawn requests retain only non-contact records for abuse prevention until that cleanup. The connection planner calculates in your browser tab; its inputs and downloads are not sent to Postline. Only the separate invitation form submits data.

Signup requests include a hashed network identifier and time for rate limiting. Pending requests expire after 24 hours. An hourly cleanup removes these records once they are older than seven days; processing a new signup also removes expired records. Hosting providers may also retain standard request logs.

Basic readership measurement

We count full page loads of public briefs, labs, field reports, the planner and offer pages using PostHog. We send only the public page name and a new random event identifier through our server. We do not send your IP address, query strings, email, feedback or planner inputs to analytics, and use no analytics cookies or persistent visitor identifiers. Private confirmation and withdrawal pages are excluded. We honor your browser’s Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. These counts measure page loads, not individual people.

Field report feedback

If you email feedback about a field report, your message and address are kept in the company inbox so we can review and respond. Sending feedback does not add you to a newsletter list. You can request deletion by replying from the same address.

Comments and the Mataroa editions

Our issues also appear on Mataroa, where you can leave a moderated comment without an account. Name and email are optional. Approved comments and any supplied name appear publicly; the optional email is private. Information entered there is handled by Mataroa under its published policies.

We are testing Mataroa’s free email editions. Its subscription form registers an address without an email-confirmation step, and it schedules new posts for 10:00 UTC the following day. On 8 October 2026, both published issues reached our test inbox, and the delivered unsubscribe link removed that test address. Email formatting still needs improvement on narrow screens; use the web editions or RSS for now. Existing invitation requests from this site have not been transferred. Mataroa subscriptions can also be removed through its unsubscribe form.

Leave, correct, or delete

Use your private unsubscribe link, or email us from the subscribed address to unsubscribe, correct your details or request deletion. Replies and deletion requests are handled through the company inbox.
